Video Tutorial: How to Upload Photos from Facebook

Picture this. Your BFF’s b-day is coming up in a few weeks (thanks for the heads-up, Facebook!) and you want to create a photo book on Mixbook full of heartwarming photos of the two of you together to give to her as a birthday gift. Great idea (we think she’ll adore and treasure it forever)! But wait. The memory card inside your digital camera doesn’t house any images from the wedding in which you were both bridesmaids last year.

Don’t despair! This is where Facebook comes in. No doubt there are entire albums full of photos featuring the affair, uploaded to Facebook by wedding guests, groomsmen, the shutter-happy Mother of the Bride, etc. Jackpot! All the pictures you need to create a beautiful Mixbook are available at the tips of your fingers (try our AutoMix magic wand tool to instantly populate your entire Mixbook with photos). How? View our fun tutorial video or read the below instructions to discover how to populate your Mixbook with your (and friends’) Facebook photos!

A popular question we receive is how to upload your Facebook photos into your Mixbook project. Once you have your project open, click on the “ADD PHOTOS” button from the photos tab. In the window that pops up, click on “Import Photos” and then “Facebook” from the left-hand side. Clicking “CONNECT” will open up a pop up window. Log into your Facebook account.

Once you have clicked the “Log In” button, the page will reload telling you to close this window. Close this window and return to our editor. You will notice that the button has now turned into a “Continue” button. Clicking on this will get you to your photos.

From here, you can select different friends, and then select the album from which you would like to retrieve your photos. Choose the photos you would like to upload, click on “Add Selected Photos”, and they will be automatically entered into your photo tray. Please note that if their privacy settings are set to private, our editor will not be allowed to access those photos.

Hope this helps!

Hi. I can’t get any photos over 1MB to upload from my computer (brand new, Windows 8) to the calendar I am trying to create. I made sure I had the very latest version of Adobe Flash; I cleared the cache of my browser (Mozilla Firefox); and I ran the speed test on my internet connection (not great, only 1.98 Mbps download and .98 Mbps upload, but I haven’t had any trouble down- or uploading these same photos anywhere else I wanted them to go). I really hope you have some suggestion that will allow me to use Mixbook for my calendar. Most of my photos are between 4MB and 9MB. They are all in .jpg format. I do not want to use a different browser, and I really don’t want to start all over with a different calendar company! :(

    Hi Ann,

May we ask if you currently have any firewall or anti-virus software installed on your computer? If so, we may suggest disabling the anti-virus software and try to upload again.

We hope that this helps! If you have any other questions, please let us know at support@mixbook.com

    Best,

Can I create a photo book w my ipad mini using photos from my albums on my ipad?

  • Mixbook Customer Care Team February 2, 2014, 9:05 pm

    Hi Traci!
    Thank you for your message!
If you would like to upload photos from your iPad to your Mixbook, there are multiple ways which you can do so:
The first way is by plugging the iPad into your computer and running iTunes to sync your iPad. This will transfer the photos you have taken to your iPhoto library (if you are on a Mac) or to a folder on your Windows PC. From here you can upload the photos as normal to your Mixbook project. If you would like information on uploading photos, please visit the following tutorial: http://youtu.be/2s1aDpEtJBI
If your iPad is running iOS 5 and you are using Apple’s iCloud service, there is a way to have your photos automatically transfer to your iCloud enabled Mac computer. To enable this feature, first go to the Settings panel on your iPad. Then, click on the iCloud tab on the left. Here, you can turn on Photo Stream and have the photos stream to your Mac computers using iCloud.
Lastly, there are many third party services, such as Drop Box, which you can use to upload the photos from your iPad to your computer.
We hope this helps! Please feel free to message us at support@mixbook.com if you have any additional questions!
    Cheers!

    Trying to up load photos..
I tried exporting them at 2MB (300dpi), then again at 11MB (also 300dpi). I am just receiving the yellow sign with the exclamation mark when they upload..not the actual photos. Very frustrating. Can you assist?

I have 121 photos to upload for a photo book. 81 downloaded successfully. The other 40 have an exclamation mark. I have retried the photos, cancelled the download and started over, restarted my computer, deleted my cache. After more than 5 hours, I have not been successful in uploading the photos. They are all under 5MB and .jpg format. Any help before I abandon the project will be great.
