3 Yellow Warning Triangles You Don’t Want to See in Your Photo Book

Yellow is a great color. It brings about images of the sun, happy faces, rubber duckies, and my favorite, the yellow peanut M&M. However, in this blog post, yellow isn’t as happy of a color. Unlike the happy face, this triangle icon alerts you to something amiss in your project. Today, we will explain what the 3 different yellow warning triangles in your project actually means.

1. Low Resolution Warning

Low ResolutionThis is the most common warning you will encounter. This warning means that your photo has low resolution and will likely print out pixelated or blurry. To rid your project of this warning you will need to shrink the photo until the triangle disappears. Alternatively, it’s possible that the file you have uploaded is a compressed version. If you have access to the original file, we would suggest uploading that file instead.

2. Upload Error Triangle

Photo Processing ErrorThis triangle will show up in your Photo tray. If you see this warning triangle, it means that you will need to re-upload your photo. An error occurred when the original upload took place, preventing the file from completing its upload onto our servers. To fix this, upload the photo into your project once more and you’ll be ready to place those images into your project in no time!

3. Missing Photo Warning

Broken Photo LinkThis triangle can be found on the pages of your project – either in the editor or in your preview. If you see this warning triangle, it means that our editor is having trouble pulling your photo from the third party platform, such as Facebook or Picasa. One of two things could have happened:
a) The photo was moved from the original album it was stored in
b) The privacy settings of the album were changed, going from a public setting to a private one

If the photo was moved to a different album, you will need to re-upload the photo in order to restore the link. If the album setting were changed, simply change the privacy settings back to a public setting.

If possible, we would recommend uploading the photos directly into your Mixbook project. This eliminates the extra step of going through Facebook or Picasa to find the photo and places your photo right onto the Mixbook server..
*Insider Tip: If you are unsure which album the missing photo is from, hover your mouse over the photo. If the URL that is displayed has the letters “FB” in it, the missing photo is from Facebook. If the URL that is displayed has the letters “GGPHT” in it, it is from a Picasa album.

    Our images are Art.

The artist likes what she sees on the screen. Some of her work is a bit grainie looking. Would you mind looking at the book’s images? Do you think the print will look substantially different from what you see in preview or edit full page spread?

    Hi Wendy,

May we ask for the user’s email account? Please email us this information at “support@mixbook.com” and we’ll be more than happy to take a look. In most cases, if the images look pixelated within the editor, it’s due to the editor compressing the photos to ensure the editor loads smoothly. If you do not see a yellow triangle warning, the photos should print out beautifully. We hope this helps!

    Hi:
Can you tell me how to differentiate between the different off-white options on your background pages?

Can you also guide me on choice between a pure white cover/ back and front or the offwhite. (which I will carry through on the pages)?

    THank you.

    Hi Judy!

At this time, our editor identifies colors with what is called a hex color code. The following site provides you with the color name as well as its corresponding hex code: http://cloford.com/resources/colours/500col.htm

To use this, you will first need to locate the color you would like to use. Once you have that, locate the hex code in the same row – these codes are located in the fourth column. You will want to copy this code down. Return to our Editor and click on the element whose color you would like to change.

To apply the color as a background, click on the “Backgrounds” tab, then click on the color next to “Background color”. This will bring up a pop up with colors. In the box that appears to the right, replace the code (which usually consists of both number and letters) with your new hex code. Hit enter, and the new color will apply.

We hope this helps! Please message us at support@mixbook.com if you have any additional questions, comments, or concerns, and we’d be happy to help!

    Cheers!

Hi Chana! We’re sorry to hear that you are having issues with the photos in your project! Would you be able to try downloading the newest version of Flash to your computer? You can do so by visiting: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
If you have updated the Flash player and it is still not working correctly, please try and clear internet browser’s cache. The instructions on how to do this for your particular browser can be found here:
    http://www.bnl.gov/itd/webapps/browsercache.asp
We would also recommend trying a different browser. Thank you for your patience, and we hope that this helps. If you are still experiencing the same issue, please contact us at support@mixbook.com, and we will continue to help troubleshoot.
    Cheers!

how do you make a photo smaller so more of it fill the space that you drag it to? A lot of it gets cut off. I tried to make it smaller by dragging a corner but it makes the picture on the page smaller, not the photo itself.
    Thank you.

    Hi Jill!
To resize your photo, sticker or text box, first click on the element. Move your mouse arrow to any side or corner of the element. By clicking, holding and then dragging the side or corner inward you will be able to make the element smaller. If you drag the side or corner away from the center you will enlarge the element. You can learn more about resizing photos here: http://blog.mixbook.com/resize-and-move-photos/
If you would like to move a photo within the frame, you will want to click on the photo once, then move your mouse to the center of the photo until your cursor turns into a hand. You can then click, hold, and drag the center of the photo to readjust it within the frame.
We hope this helps! Please feel free to message us at support@mixbook.com if you have any additional questions, comments, or concerns, and we’d be happy to help! :)
    Cheers!
